In response to the COVID-19 and “Stay Home and Stay Safe” policy, the department is still operating minimally as of Monday, June 08, 2020. Working on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Friday’s between 8:00 am to 12:00 pm until further notice so to follow the recommendation for social distancing.
We have implemented CONTACTLESS PROCEDURES for all the following services:
DEPARTMENT OF LICENSING UPDATE
• As of March 20, 2020, if your tabs expired in March – you have been extended to June 30
• As of April 13, 2020, if your tabs expired in April – you have been extended to July 31
• As of May 29, 2020, if your tabs expired in May 2020 – you have been extended to August 31, 2020.
(However, if you have expired tabs that are older than March, please mail in your check or money order, provide enrollment number, license plate number and mileage and we will mail or you your new registration and tabs. We have updated the registrations and notified the National Law Enforcement Telecommunication Systems of the March and April extensions; stay posted for further updates.)
The following services have been temporarily suspended:
1. In-Person Contact
2. Vendor Permit Applications
3. Dance Permit Applications
4. Fireworks Activities (L&O approved)
Here are some things you can still do:
1. RENEWING TABS & REGISTRATIONS: (vehicles and trailers) a. Mail or email pictures of the following documents: i. Current Title/Registration
ii. Driver’s license
iii. Tribal ID
iv. Write down the current Mileage

v. $25 + $5 processing = $30 (for Personal and trailer use)
vi. $50 + $5 processing = $55 (for Commercial 1-year use)
2. TRANSFERRING PLATES TO ANOTHER VEHICLE: a. Mail or email pictures of the following: i. Picture of new vehicle
ii. Vehicle Identification Number (VIN)
iii. Current Title/Registration
iv. The plate your transferring to new vehicle
v. Mail Payment: $10 + $5 processing = $15 total
3. NEW REGISTRATION, TABS & PLATES: a. Mail or email pictures of the following documents: i. Purchase order for vehicle (showing Lien Holder)
ii. Title or Registration
iii. The vehicle itself
iv. VIN number on the vehicle
v. Driver’s license
vi. Tribal Identification
vii. Mail Payment: $25 + $5 processing = $30 (personal)
viii. Mail Payment: $50 + $5 processing = $55 total (Commercial 1-year use)
4. MAIL IN YOUR BUSINESS LICENSE APPLICATIONS with payment and once tribal council approves, we’ll mail the License back to an address on file. a. You can request an application to be emailed or mailed to you.
5. MAIL OR EMAIL IN YOUR COURTESY PERMIT (CLOSED AREA) APPLICATION: a. You can request an application to be emailed or mailed to you.
b. Provide pictures or copies of the following: i. Completed Courtesy permit application (Closed Area)
ii. Tribal ID’s
iii. Permittee’s ID
iv. Woodcutting Permit (if applicable)
v. Mail Payment: $50 + $5 processing= $55 total (check or money order only); Elder (55+ older is $5 total by check or money order)

6. FOR ENTERPRISES – Call for any assistance.
7. FOR SMOKE SHOP RETAILERS: Tobacco Activities continue to operate minimally
(Mon., Wed., and Fri. from 8 am – 12 pm)
IMPORTANT NOTICE ABOUT PAYMENT METHODS:
• PAYABLE TO: Yakama Nation
• CHECKS OR MONEY ORDER ONLY.
• NO CASH, NO EXCEPTIONS.
• Documents and ID’s must be legible. If not legible, the forms will be sent back.
NOTE: When we receive your payment and applications forms thru the mail, we will process and send back thru the mail or you may pick them up at the front at the Homeland Security desk but you must let us know how you want to receive it (i.e., mail it or pick up at Homeland Security desk at the Maine Entrance of the Yakama Nation Agency Headquarters).
We expect to resume our normal services when this state of emergency is lifted, but be prepared for the possibility of extended minimal operations and potential shut down if the spread is not controlled. (Pursuant to T-10-61 and the authority delegated by T-64-20). We are working to streamline our processes.
We ask you to please be aware that operations may be slower than normal with minimal staff and hours, we appreciate your patience. Continue to stay informed for further updates on Social Media (YakamaInfo – Facebook page).
